Dress Code Expectations for Hybrid Work

A practical guide as we return to the office and continue flexible schedules.

Hello team,

As more employees return to the office or move into a hybrid schedule, we want to provide clear, practical guidance on dress code expectations. Work patterns have changed, and our goal is to support comfort, confidence, and professionalism across office, remote, and video-call settings.

The intent is not to police clothing. It is to help everyone feel prepared for the workday, whether you are meeting in person, joining from home, or connecting with clients, candidates, vendors, visitors, or colleagues on camera.

General expectations

Employees are expected to dress in a way that is neat, professional, and appropriate for their role and work environment.

Please use good judgment and consider your schedule for the day, including internal meetings, external meetings, interviews, facility visits, customer interactions, or any work that requires safety-specific clothing or footwear.

In-office attire

For office days, business casual attire is generally appropriate unless your role, department, location, or schedule calls for something different.

Examples include clean and well-maintained clothing, appropriate footwear, and attire that is suitable for working around colleagues, visitors, candidates, clients, or vendors.

Video-call attire

Video-call attire does not need to be more formal than in-office attire. When you are visible on camera, it should meet the same basic standard of professionalism expected in the workplace.

Consider the meeting type and audience. External meetings, interviews, executive presentations, or client conversations may call for a more polished look than informal team check-ins.

Practical flexibility when working remotely

We recognize that working from home allows for more comfort and flexibility. Comfortable clothing is fine for remote work, especially when you are not on camera or in external-facing meetings.

When joining video meetings, please avoid clothing, slogans, or backgrounds that could distract from the discussion or feel inconsistent with a respectful workplace. Camera use should follow team norms, meeting expectations, and any guidance from the meeting organizer.

A few helpful reminders

• Follow any client-facing, safety, uniform, lab, warehouse, facility, or site-specific requirements that apply to your role.

• Choose clothing and footwear that are clean, well-maintained, and appropriate for your work activities that day.

• Use good judgment for meetings with external participants or senior stakeholders.

• If you are unsure what is appropriate, check with your manager or contact HR before the meeting or office visit.

If you have questions

Please reach out to your manager or HR if you have questions about the dress code, site-specific expectations, or how the guidance applies to your role.
